#vrikshamprepregjourney

Hi, Anu Akka, this is Niveditha from Bangalore.

I have attended your Labour Management, Breastfeeding as well as solid webinar. I gave birth to a baby girl vaginally with Episiotomy on Dec 7th, 2021 around 7.23 am with 7 hours of Intense Labour.

So, our story goes like this. Around 33 weeks I noticed a small amount of water trickles, then we visited my gynecologist and informed her about that. She did a pelvic assessment and told me that I was 1 cm dilated and it looks like I would get into preterm labor and asked me to get hospitalized.

I was hospitalized and given a lung maturity steroid for the baby as the doctor told me that in case the baby arrives early this would help the baby in lung maturity. I was under observation for a day and discharged since I did not progress further.

The doctor advised me to take complete rest for the following weeks since I was working from home. She suggested not to sit for a long and rest. Again around 34 weeks one night around 9 o’clock I started bleeding which panicked me and informed my Husband and Mom and we rushed to the hospital when the doctor did an assessment and told me that I was 2cm dilated and asked me to wait until I start getting contractions. I am allergic to diclofenac sodium tablets and Injections. As a procedure, they provided me with a pantac D injection through IV.

Not sure what happened my pulse started to drop down. I had severe palpitations, and my baby’s heartbeat also had fluctuations. The doctor tried to stabilize the situation, I could see my mom and husband standing with fear and speechless. I was continuously telling myself and the baby to hold on, nothing is going to happen, and remembering your “Trust your Body” Mantra after an hour I was stabilized and my baby was also doing fine.

It still remains to be a nightmare even when I think about it now. Doctors after examination told me that I was allergic to Pantac Injections as well which caused so much chaos. As I dint progress with labour I got back home the next day.

My Gynecologist was traveling to US she redirected me to a different gynecologist, and around 37weeks I visited my new doctor and after examination she told me I was 20-30% effaced, 2cm dilated and did a membrane strapping and informed me that I would be getting contractions at any time. Since I stayed close to the hospital, I told her that I would be reaching the hospital when I get the actual contractions.
The same day around 8 pm I started to get mild contractions. I waited for a few hours around 10pm when I started to track the contractions. It was regular and had a pattern. But my husband was in a very important meeting. I didn’t want to disturb him.

I managed till 12pm as the meeting went on till 12.30pm I tracked the contraction and sent it to my doctor. She asked me to come to the hospital since my contractions were frequent. When my husband was out of the meeting, I informed him the same and we reached the hospital by 1pm in the night. I had been induced and started getting very strong contractions which was unbearable.

I walked around the hospital corridor for almost 7 hours distracting myself, sipping and following the breathing techniques without epidural. Around 6 in the morning the doctor examined and told me that I was 8 cm dilated. At 7am I got the urge to push as I started pushing. The doctor could see the crowning within 2-3 pushes again by 7.23 my baby girl was out.

I can’t thank enough my husband and my mom who was walking along with me the entire night for 7hrs, motivating me, reminding me to follow the breathing technique distracting me and providing me sipper so I don’t lose my energy.

Thank you so much Akka for all the knowledge you are spreading across, your all strategies like distraction, breathing techniques and sippers are truly life savers. Now my baby is 7months old breastfeeding successfully beating all the myths around me is possible just because of you 😊

Lots of Love…❤
