Birthstory of a rainbow baby
#vrikshambirthstory
Hi Akka,
I’ve been married since May 2018 and I’m your May 2020 Early Pregnancy student but unfortunately, I had suffered a Missed Miscarriage at 11 weeks in July 2020. Later I attended your November 2020 Pre-Pregnancy Session and got conceived in April 2021 – the very first month we tried by following the Diet and Lifestyle changes you suggested.
Here is the Birth Story of our Rainbow Baby.
I was due on Dec 23, 2021. At 38th week of my pregnancy – – Dec 10th evening we got NST and an internal examination done. I was 1 cm dilated by then and the Doctor said the Baby would arrive anytime within Dec 20th… if not we need to induce labor on the 20th morning.
We had dinner out and went for a long drive on Airport Road… After getting back home I noticed Mild spotting. And it continued until Dec 11th. We were expecting pain to start on its own but unfortunately it didn’t and I was very much disappointed with that. On Dec 18th, I had an internal examination again and I was 2 cm dilated by then and NST looked fine but AFI had reduced to 7. So, we decided to induce labor on Dec 20th as planned earlier.
On Dec 20th (39w +4d) we got admitted in the morning and the Doctor induced the pain with Cervi prime Gel at 10 am and I was 3cm dilated and my cervix was 60% effaced by then. Till 3 pm I had mild contractions similar to Menstrual cramps… I wasn’t able to concentrate on the pain and record the contractions timing. I was doing Breathing exercises to keep me distracted from the pain. Later by 3 30 pm I was shifted to the Labor room and I was given Syntocinon through IV and contractions drastically increased but Dilation was still 3cm and I seriously didn’t have any hopes. All I remembered was your words of Trust in your body and remained calm and let my body do what it’s intended to do. Every 1 and half minutes I had contractions for 45 to 60 s. And this was from 4 pm until delivery. Later Doctor broke my water but the Dilation was still 3 cm. I started doing Birth Ball exercises. Lip Balm, Sipper Bottle, Hot water Bag and the Orthopaedic heat pad were life saviours. I continued doing breathing exercises during contractions and survived the pain until 7 pm later opted for an epidural since I was totally exhausted. Within 9 pm I was 7 cm dilated and I wasn’t moving around after epidural but was practicing breathing exercises when I was experiencing shivering and rectal pressure during contractions. By 10 30 pm I was fully dilated and within several pushes our little Angel was born at 10 44 pm with Birth weight of 3.25 kg. Being very intolerant to pain especially during TVS and Internal examination, the pain during pushing wasn’t as intense as I had imagined… But Placental delivery and Episiotomy were the most painful stuff.
We did Delayed Cord Clamping, Skin to Skin contact and Breastfeeding within 1 hour. I had severe Pelvic Nerve Pain from the end of first trimester and all I could do was just walking throughout my pregnancy journey. I was very guilty that I couldn’t even do Squats, Butterfly and Duck Walk and any other Prenatal Yoga exercises. And I honestly had no hope that I would end up delivering Vaginally since I wasn’t able to be Physically much active. We were prepared for a C section in the worst case.
Vaginal Birth was all possible because of the Breathing exercises, Your Mantra ‘ Trust your body ‘, My will power of not giving up, My Parents prayers and My Husband’s constant support in the Labor room.
I would like to Thank God, My Mom who sacrificed her 31 yrs. Teaching career to support me physically and mentally from the first trimester, My Husband who hasn’t said the word ‘Love you’ till date but I experienced what Love is by the way he supported me during Labor, Doctors and Nurses at Motherhood, Hebbal and You akka for all the knowledge sharing and positivity. Without you all this Vaginal Delivery would have been impossible.
