From being afraid of an injection to vaginal birth
#vrikshambirthstory, Hi Anu Akka, I am Nandhini and my husband’s name is Sudharsan. I have attended your labor management class. I am extremely happy to tell you that I birthed my little champ on 9th September 2021 through vaginal birth. We have named him Nivin. I was constantly making my body prepared for labor by doing the exercises you told me throughout my pregnancy journey. It was almost the start of the 40th week and I did not feel any pain. The baby didn’t descend down and my cervix was also not softened. My doctor did a membrane stripping and told me there are chances you might expect pain within 48 hours. But nothing happened and my cervix was still the same. I was feeling distressed none of my efforts helped me to get labor pain naturally. I completely lost hope but my husband’s words helped me gain some confidence. My doctor asked me to get admitted on September 8th to go for an induced labor if everything seemed well. I went to the hospital carrying my hospital bag and the birth ball. The doctor and the nurses were surprised about the birth ball and were curious about how I would use it in labor.
Around 1 pm they tried to induce mechanically by inserting a Foley balloon catheter. After that, I felt discomfort and pain due to that insertion, and around 8 p.m. my water broke. So, again they manually removed the catheter. I was asked to stay in the labor ward and not to try any exercise since the water broke. Parallelly the NST was done frequently. I was having mild contractions for around 10 hours which made me completely uneasy. Even after the water broke, they told me my cervix was not dilated much. My special day has arrived. Around 7:30 a.m. on September 9th, the Syntocinon infusion started. I started having intense contractions but my cervix was dilating very slowly. My husband was very supportive throughout my labor process he stood for hours beside me in the labor ward holding my hand, encouraging me telling me I could do it. I started doing the breathing techniques which really helped me a lot. I was scared and confused. Finally, they told me the cervix had been fully dilated at around 1:40 p.m. Episiotomy was done, and within a few pushes my baby boy arrived at 1:55 p.m. His birth weight was 3kgs. I couldn’t explain my emotions. I was on cloud nine looking at him. I always want to thank you for all the confidence you gave us in the session.
All the knowledge I gained about the labor process is from your session. That gave me an extra level of confidence because nothing was new to me. I was a person who was afraid of even getting injected. I still can’t believe I went through so much and it all sounds like a dream to me that I gave birth vaginally, it’s all only because of God’s grace, my husband’s immense support, and following the mantra you repeatedly say ” Trust Your Body”. On the whole, I had a very happy and healthy pregnancy which makes me cherish forever. Thanks a lot for your support ☺️
