#vrikshambirthstory,

Hi Akka, I was at a wedding reception when I started getting cramp-like contractions. Initially, I thought these must be Braxton Hicks as there were absolutely no patterns. Still, I kept tracking these throughout. Afterwards, when we came back home, we just thought of checking in with our hospital. I shared the timings, the type of contractions and intensity with the doctor and they immediately asked us to come to the hospital.

Mentally, I wasn’t prepared as in my mind, I was planning to attend the main wedding the next day morning. Plus, I was only 37+1 weeks. In my mind, I still had 3 weeks’ time. Anyhow, we wanted to be sure, so we went to the emergency ward at around midnight. The doctors checked my contractions and monitored these for around 2 hours.

Then, she did an internal exam and informed me that my cervix has started to slightly loosen up and that I was in the latent phase of labor. They admitted me at 4 AM and wanted to observe me for the next few hours. I couldn’t really sleep as my pains were getting intense. I wasn’t still mentally prepared as the doctors had informed me sometimes these contractions subside with proper rest.

By 7 AM, a portion of my water broke and I was already 1.5 cm dilated. There was no turning back. They gave me medicines to progress the labor. In the next 3 hrs., I was dilated 8cm before I was shifted to the labor room. I was allowed to progress naturally till I was fully dilated. All the while, I was only doing your breathing practices, hot water bag, and visualizing my baby. My husband who also attended your webinar kept reminding me to take deep breaths when I kept forgetting to do so because of the pain intensity.

Finally, by 10:30 AM, I was ready to push, and within 3-4, proper pushes were able to deliver and gave birth to a beautiful baby girl at 11 AM. She weighed 2.53 kg at birth. I had almost given up on the table and requested for a C-section, but the doctors and my husband kept me motivated to push through. I also want to take this time to properly thank you. I had partially attended a portion of your labor management webinar almost 2 yrs back when my sister-in-law was pregnant and had made a mental note to look up your classes when it was my turn.

Your webinars are a mini-course on everything one needs to know about labor management. It’s extremely helpful and such a value-add for someone like me who likes to know everything. It was quite overwhelming after the webinar but I was completely equipped with everything that was about to go down which really prepared me at a subconscious level.

Furthermore, I even went on to attend your breastfeeding webinar which has made it so easy for me to make my baby latch onto me and she has been gulping down milk during every feed like there’s no tomorrow. Thank you, Akka your webinars are a must for every mother-to-be. I have even recommended my very close friend to attend your classes now.
