Vaginal birth after c section
#vrikshambirthstory,
Hi Anu ka, Myself Subha Kanagavel, On December 2022 We delivered a second baby, and its vaginal birth after cesarean (VBAC). You are my inspiration Akka and I did this only because of my husband’s support throughout my pregnancy.
Here goes the story
Once I conceived my second baby, I heard comments from almost everyone that this was also a C-section because of my first pregnancy. Those words hit me very hard, I have decided to prepare my mind and body to deliver my baby normally. I have told the same to my husband hence we attended your class on October 2022.
I started practicing breathing techniques and my husband took me walking every day. He motivates me and asks me if I did all exercises on regular basis. At the end of 36 weeks, I got mucus plug discharge and you told me in class that we no need to worry about it, but the discharge continued for more than a day and it was heavy hence I texted you in WhatsApp (thanks for responding). As you mentioned we stayed at home doing exercises, walking, and took rest.
I had very mild contractions I used the app to track them, but my sleep got disturbed and I was not able to do exercise hence continued only walking, 4 days passed like this. On the 21st December night after 11 pm I could find my contractions coming at regular intervals so started noting down and couldn’t sleep till 4 pm. My husband woke up and at the same time I could feel that my water broke, so we started to the hospital.
we have reached the hospital around 6 am and they gave enemas, put trips, and monitored the baby’s heart rate. Around 7.30 my pain got worse and the contractions were severe, my husband stood nearby side and holding my hand at each contraction. The duty doctor checked and said I was 5cm dilated.
Due to the unbearable pain, I started losing hope so I told my husband that will go with c section but he was very confident that I will deliver normally. He was continuously encouraging me to do breathing exercises, giving me water, and rubbing my forehead and he didn’t even sit for a min Akka.
The pain was not tolerable hence I told him about the epidural you mentioned in class, he immediately went to the duty doctor and asked her the same. They gave me an epidural at 10.30 am, and after that also I could feel contractions coming very frequently. so, we informed the doctor, she checked and said I was fully dilated. they set up all the necessary things required for labor and asked me to push.
I tried two to three times to push by holding my husband’s hand, and he told he saw my baby’s head but I was finding difficulty in breathing, the doctor noticed that so she used a vacuum and our baby came to this world at 11.37 am. All this happened only because of my husband’s support and motivation Akka. Thank you for providing knowledge about the labor process and inspiring many people Akka.
