I birthed my 2.1kg baby against all odd
#vrikshambirthstory,
Hello Anu Akka, I’m your Jan 2022 pre-pregnancy student. I tried to follow everything you said especially no phone zone, sleeping in a dark room, and oil massage before bath. These tips helped me a lot with my conception.
On April 2nd the test came positive and it was such a memorable day for both me and my husband. But a few days later I had slight bleeding with cramps and went to the hospital. There they took a scan and the doctors said there is no heartbeat found and let’s wait for a week to see by chance if the baby is still there.
I then moved to my mother’s place and again went to my doctor and narrated to her everything that has happened and she again took another scan. To our surprise, we heard our ill one’s heartbeat 😍. But there was some blood collection present in my uterus which if not treated properly can lead to other medical complications.
The third- and fifth-month scans went on really well but I had a low-lying placenta and was asked to be on bed rest. After the fifth month, the placenta moved. We thought all was normal but on September first week again I was admitted to ICU because I had a UTI infection of high level.
There the doctors said if the infection reaches the baby there are possibilities of removing the ill one and the chances of survival are very less as the baby is not even 30 weeks of age. That shook our world completely and we tried to stay strong for each other. But thankfully by god’s grace, it was cured.
And towards the end of September, I started to feel mild pain in my lower back after two days I went for a check-up and my doctor said the false contractions might hinder the baby’s growth and she gave me 2 injections to hold my labor pain. On Nov 5th & 6th we had our maternity photoshoot because there are chances that the baby might have been born pre-term.
On Nov 13th after enjoying our evening at the terrace I noticed a slight blood discharge in my urine. I got to know that my labor might start anytime now since after childbirth I can’t have all my favorite foods, I asked my husband to bring some of my favorites 🤣.
Then at 7’o clock, I informed him about the bloody show and he asked his friends about it who also confirmed it might be the start of labor. At night he gave me a hot water massage. I also informed my doctor about it who asked me to get admitted if the pain is unbearable or to stay at home until morning.
Throughout the night I had lower back pain and mild abdomen pain. On 14th November by 6:30 in the morning again I noticed blood discharge and at 10:50 I reached the hospital. My doctor checked and said that I was already 2 cm dilated and asked me to get admitted to the hospital that afternoon to see any progress in labor since I had mild or no pain.
We were worried sick because our baby was 1.9kg while seen in the scan and has the possibility to be kept in NICU due to being underweight. At 1 p.m. I got admitted to the hospital to graph the baby’s heartbeat and the graph was good but my contractions kept coming frequently. By 3.30 I was into active labor and the pain kept on increasing. The hospital allows one person to stay throughout the labor with me and I wanted my husband to be with me.
By 6:45 the pain was unbearable and I kept hitting my husband and shouting at him, the whole time he kept quiet and tried his best to comfort me. I kept on sipping water and emptying my bladder at the same time. I was also standing and walking throughout my labor which made the process fast. At 9:15 my doctor checked me and said I may deliver soon. At 9:45 I was taken into the labor ward, then ruptured my membrane to speed up the process.
I was asked to push whenever contractions hit, and within a few pushes my ill boy came out at 10:30 p.m. vaginally without the use of any instruments. After checking him out he was breastfed immediately within a few minutes and kept in the heater for some time. Since his birth weight was 2.1 kg, he wasn’t kept in the NICU.
I’m really thankful to my husband who was there by me all this time and kept on supporting me. He took up all my medical expenses of mine during the entire pregnancy even though his family doesn’t approve of it. And a huge thanks to my doctor and the nurse team who put up with all my tantrums and made my birth so comfortable. The entire team was so calm and thoughtful.
