108 kg, 22 months difference & Vaginal Birth After C Section(VBAC) with my doctors support
#vrikshambirthstory
Hi Anu akka… This is sowmia from Salem your labor management student. On Nov 8th I was blessed with a baby boy via VBAC and the knowledge you shared through the class like breathing techniques, labor exercises, and the mantra “TRUST YOUR BODY” helped me throughout my labor journey.
On 6th late at night, around 11:40 pm I got a mild contraction, I and my husband were waiting for the pain to follow 5:1:1. By around Nov 7th, 8:30 am we reached the hospital the pain was bearable, the doctor checked me and told I was 1 cm dilated and insisted me to get admitted for observation since I had a previous c section.
Around 1 pm doctor again checked me and told me that I was 3 cm dilated. This time with the knowledge I and my husband gained through your class we were actively doing walking, stair climbing, duck walking, squats, and ball exercises from the morning.
My doctor was very cautious that the pain should be spontaneous and PV examination was done only once in a while. The story continued till the next day morning with some increase in pain intensity. On Nov 8th morning around 5:15 am doctor checked and told me I was 5cm dilated. Got severe contractions around 9:30 am and was shifted to the pre-labor ward.
Since the pain was unbearable, I could do only walking with the support of my husband and my labor support team. Around 11:45 pm was 7 cm dilated and got very intense pain and was shifted to labor ward. Within some 10 min, I was fully dilated and started pushing. By 12:08 pm our little prince was born with a minimal perineal tear. To our surprise, he was weighing 4 kg.
Since I was overweighing 108 kg at the time of delivery, the gap between my first baby and this delivery was 22 months and had a previous c-section everyone around me was insisting to opt for an elective c-section. But with the knowledge of birth classes, yoga practices, and the support which my doctor provided from the first checkup, VBAC was possible.
I was very happy this time because my husband was with me throughout my labor journey and ensured that I stay hydrated and also did exercises along with me through the knowledge we gained through your class.
I also would thank you a lot for the post-class support you provided.
My entire doctor team and labor nurses were very supportive and spoke positively during this journey. They ensured that I stay comfortable throughout the labor journey. We were very determined right from start and we could achieve this despite the long 49 hrs labor pain through your class knowledge and doctor team support. I also would like to mention my doctor Mrs.Pramya (@pramyananjundan)
