More than vaginal or abdominal birth, A positive birth experience matters
#vrikshambirthstory
Hello Anu akka, I am your pre-pregnancy, early pregnancy, labor management, breastfeeding, Infant care, and Starting Solids attendee.
Within 2 months of trying, I got pregnant and was following all of your advice provided in the class. In spite of having a ligament tear a year back when I was so traumatized by the pain, your labor management class has inspired me so much to try for normal delivery.
Everything went well for a while then the doctor told me that baby’s weight gain is lacking in my 8th-month scan. Doctor asked me to take a dexa injection (lungs growth steroid, in case the baby was born prematurely). I used to go for NST once in every 3 days.
Even after two weeks of every try baby is still measured small and on top of it came to know low blood and oxygen supply in the umbilical cord which may make the baby not gain weight. During the 37th week, the doctor advised for delivery.
After admission doctor mentioned the possibilities of normal delivery and the risks of putting an IUGR baby under pressure. After discussing with the family heavy heartedly went for C-section as I don’t want to put my baby at risk at any cost.
I believed I will be able to deliver a baby normally but it made me feel proud that I am strong enough to choose c-section for my baby’s wellness as you taught us that “we need positive delivery” whether it’s normal or c-section.
My baby girl came into this world on the 22 June morning at 8:30 am. She was born at 2.1 kg. I breastfeed her within 45 minutes of birth. I was walking on my feet after 24 hours of surgery. This happened only because of you and your motivation. I trusted my body and also was recovering from my surgery quite soon. My baby is also doing well now. She is gaining good weight.
You have become an integral part of my pregnancy journey. I will miss your classes. If you ever visit Hyderabad, would love to meet you in person akka.
A very Happy Birthday to Ahan and lots of love to Ayan. God bless.
Love
Harika
