A Vaginal Birth without Episiotomy
#VrikshamBirthStory
Hi Anu ka, this is Ragini. I attended ur early pregnancy, labor management and infant care sessions. We had our baby boy on oct 29th via vaginal delivery with no episiotomy.
So our story goes like this..
On oct 28th after 8pm, I had mild contractions. We already had a false contraction episode so I was waiting for things to buckle up. Was following breathing techniques and everything was normal. Even then, I had been timing it with the help of the app u suggested. On 29th oct morning at 3 am, my water broke. Dats when we confirmed that it’s the labor pain, nd the day has come to meet our baby. Me and my husband were excited and started to hospital with our elders’ blessings. We got admitted around 5 am. The doc on rounds said no dilation yet and it may take 17 to 18 hrs for delivery. But my contractions were getting stronger.
My husband was supporting me to a great extent, was helping me to walk and was also massaging the back during contractions. We had our exercise ball also ready. Suddenly I was confined to bed for monitoring FHR. I felt helpless coz walking made things better. So, I was closing my eyes and visualizing that the dilation is happening like how a flower bloom. I was continuously talking with my baby and I believed in him nd my body. I was imagining that my brain secretes the hormones to proceed the dilation. All the while I was following the breathing techniques. I had blood show. And I had pushing sensation around 8.30 am. We informed the duty doc, she wasn’t sure. She asked me to rest nd that she II give a tablet for things to proceed. But by God’s grace she said, anyways let me check the dilation for ur satisfaction. Once she did she was shocked to know I was completely dilated nd ready for labor immediately my gynaec was called nd labor room was set ready.
Our excitement grew that we are gonna meet our boy (Yes, we knew it was going to be a boy, we manifested it) as per our earlier discussion, my gynaec instructed the others to wait and not do episiotomy. Within 3 pushes my baby came out at 9.50 am. And I had a mild primary degree tear. We did skin to skin, delayed clamping and breastfeeding in the golden hour.
My husband was there thru out the labor witnessing the grand entry of our baby into this world and was constantly reminding me to do the breathing techniques during pushing. He was motivating me that am doing very well. I dint shed even a single drop of tear. I was confident nd proud that I did this. The whole team was congratulating us for being quiet, not screaming and cooperating so well. The neonat personally congratulated my husband for being a super support and staying cool. Its coz of the knowledge we gained from ur session.
We should thank you for giving us so much awareness on this. I religiously practiced all ur breathing tech, ball exercises and walking throughout my pregnancy. We had our hospital bag packed well before the day.
Thanks to you again for giving us that checklist. We loved ur patience in clarifying our doubts during the Q&A. Keep doing the great work u have been doing akka. Last but not least I should thank my doctor for being the best support nd Positivity throughout the pregnancy, labor and even after that. She respected our decisions.
