I’m a Doctor by profession. I attended your early pregnancy and Labor management class. I’m immensely happy to tell you that I delivered my Baby Boy through Vaginal Delivery on 29th December, 2021

I was 38 weeks + 3 days – Dec 17th, I had pain in my lower back and lower abdomen since 4am which made me uncomfortable. Since i had my routine prenatal checkup that morning, I got ready and went to hospital by 9am, my doctor did PV and “told that my cervix was already soft, 2cm dilated and 30% effaced. u may get labor pains anytime and also asked do u want to get admitted?”I replied her, ” I’ll get admitted once i get spontaneous labor pain” and returned home…

Since I packed my hospital bags earlier, I was waiting for spontaneous labor pain and continued doing all my exercises – stair climbing, duck walking, squatting, birth ball exercises, Curb walking. Also did yoga and walking each 1 hr. every day.Ever since I was 2cm dilated, I was having mild contractions which was at irregular intervals associated with lower abdominal pain for about 10 days. Breathing exercises really helped me to overcome that uncomfortable lower abdomen pain.

I really lost patience since I was not having adequate sleep at night, felt really uncomfortable while walking and lying down. I was doing yoga and birth ball exercises to get relief from lower backache.

On 27th December, i went to the hospital as I was doubting my fetal movements. My doctor immediately told me to get admitted. As I was ready with my hospital bags, I was admitted the same day. After which covid test was taken for me. I was asked to monitor the fetal movements and NST was taken, baby was doing good and everything was normal. Doctor told, “we can wait for spontaneous labor pain, if not we’ll induce”.

Labor Day
On December 29th, 40 weeks + 1 days, at morning 6am induction started. I was asked to take 1 tablet of misoprostol. I took the tablet and went had a warm shower, got ready and started doing my exercises inside my room. Started having mild pain with contractions at a frequency of 20 mins lasting for 1 minute.

Then at 9 am, I was asked to take one more dose of misoprostol, after that dose my pain got increased continued doing breathing exercises. At around 10.15am my mucus plug got released and I started experiencing more pain which were really uncomfortable. I was little afraid, coz within few minutes I’ll be shifted to Labor ward.

My eyes were filled with tears, as I should manage all alone there. My husband was really supportive. At 11.45 am, I was shifted to Labor room. At 12.30pm, doctor did Pv and told that my cervix was 2.5cm dilated, 60-70% effaced and baby is at -2 station. At 1pm enema was given and oxytocin infusion was started. I was having contractions which were at a frequency of 5 mins lasting for 1.5 mins. At 2pm, since I couldn’t bear my pain, I asked my husband to come inside labor ward for my support. He supported and encouraged me. I held his hands and was squishing his fingers in pain.

At 2.15pm, my water broke after which pain was intolerable and asked for Epidural. Continued doing breathing exercises and visualization techniques. My Mom and Mother-in-law were allowed inside the labor ward for my support. They both were really supportive. At 3pm, I was taken to OT and Epidural catheter was placed on my back. At 3.30pm, Epidural medication was started slowly with a bolus followed by an infusion. As epidural was started, I was not able to move my right leg since it became numb and heavy due to water block after epidural. At 4pm, doctor did PV and told that my cervix was 8cm dilated and 100% effaced baby is at -1 station. Doctor told, ” Baby is lying high and it’ll take couple of hours to descend”, also told me to Push when I get the urge to strain.

My Epidural infusion was disconnected, so that I get that pushing sensation. I was pushing whenever I had the urge to push, pain was very intense. By 5pm, I was Fully dilated to 10cm and within 10 mins of Push my Baby boy arrived at 5.11pm❤️. His birth weight was 2.96kgs. It was such a relaxation for me after hearing his First cry. I forgot all the pain that I went through. Delayed cord clamping and skin to skin contact was done. Placenta was removed and I had Atonic PPH which was managed using PPH cannula and homeostasis was attained. Episiotomy stiches were done. I was Waiting to Hold my Baby Boy, breastfeeding was done within 1hr of Birth. It was all worth it✨.

I should thank you for all the confidence that u gave me in the session. Ur breathing techniques was really a game changer… I took my Sipper bottle and lip balm to the Labor Ward, which really helped me a lot. Ur all time important phrase, ” Trust Ur body” was really powerful.
