I lost hope but My husband did not
#VrikshamBirthStory
Hi Akka, I’m your labor management and infant care student, I delivered my Baby Boy on Oct 14 through vaginal birth. I would like to share my birth story with you ka.
During my pregnancy I was very active and doing all exercise thought by you. On 13th October evening I and my husband went to general checkup, on the way back home my water broke and started leaking at 6pm. We didn’t panic, went home took a nice shower and proceed back to hospital. Doctor checked and told that I was 2 cm dilated and 50% effaced. Me and my husband moved to labor ward and we’re waiting to progress naturally. At night I began to have mild contraction and later it was once in 3 min. Since there was no improvement till next day 4 AM, doc suggested to augment the labor.
After augmentation the contraction was more frequent and the intensity was high. I was doing the breathing technique, Sipping water, etc.
The whole night we were just recollecting your words and my husband was reading few birth stories from your post. At 8 AM it was still 2 cm dilated and the pain was very severe. Also, my pulse rate was fluctuating they kept oxygen mask. I felt little difficult though somehow managed to practice the breathing technique with it. Again at 10AM, no improvement. Doctor suggested to go for c-section since baby had a cord around the neck which may make the baby difficult to come down and as we already waited for more than 15 hours after the leak. I really lost hope and decided to proceed with C-section as I had unbearable pain. But some intuition, my husband told let us wait for some time, he was holding my hands we prayed and spoke with baby (inspired from one of your birth stories) my husband was constantly motivating me. Since I could no longer bare the pain, my husband asked the doc to check again once at 11AM before proceeding to c- section. It was 4cm dilated, that gained us confident.
Then thought of taking epidural, but since the heart rate and my pulse was fluctuating, we were waiting for some time to get normal. In the meanwhile, the miracle happened, all of the sudden at 11:40 AM I was fully dilated and my baby boy was born with only 2 pushes. This only happened because of you, the mantra Trust your body, trust your baby. The breathing technique, sipper bottle was a savior. I have to really thank my husband even when I lost hope and decided for c-section, he was the one who constantly motivated me, (he said-I spoke with the doc, we can opt c section, until then you relax, do with me the breathing technique- The exact scenario that you explained in webinar).
Each birth stories and reels which you are posting is a true inspiration, in fact that was also one of the major reasons which gave us confident and hope during the labor. Thanks, you very much ka for all the support and guidance.
With lots of Love,
Jayashree & Nandha
