#vrikshambirthstory

Hi Anu garu. I am your August labor management student. Happy to share that we were blessed with a baby girl on Nov 26th 😀.

Here is my birth story :

It’s my first baby and the labor lasted for less than 8hrs. I was due on the 29th and did not have any signs of labor until 25th so my doctor suggested to have a membrane sweep on the 29th and see how to progress. On 25th evening my husband and i went out for a nice dinner thinking we still have time and this might be the last dinner as just two of us. Later that night around 2pm I started having contractions and they were pretty intense for early labor and were on the 10-1-1. I did not want to wake my husband as I knew it would take some time and he might have to be awake the night after that to help me out. I sat on my birth ball and started timing the contractions. In between contractions I started having the sensation to vomit/poop and started doing what my body was asking me to do. Around 5:30, my husband wokeup to the breathing exercises I was doing since he attended your class with me and he knew the intensity of those contractions based on the type of breathing I was doing.

As the contractions were decreasing in the time and frequency we went to the hospital and I immediately asked my doctor for an epidural. She said I was just 2cm dilated and 50% effaced and we should wait until I’m atleast 4-5cm dilated to opt for an epidural and that would take atleast 2-3hrs.

In the meanwhile I lost my mucous plug and the doctor asked me to get shifted to the ICU so it is easier to monitor and will be feasible for an epidural. Within the next one hour I was already at 6cm and were waiting for the anesthesiologist to arrive. The contractions were intense and your breathing techniques was the only thing keeping me sane. In the next 30mins I progressed to 8cm and was shifted to the labor room. Pushed for 30mins and my baby girl arrived ❤️ I never thought it would be done so fast as the first thing we heard from our doctor when we came in was the labor is going to take atleast 10-12hrs. But my body and my baby did not fail me and made things happen so quickly.

All through labor I had you in my mind and every single thing you told in the class and also otherwise on social media. Thank you Anu garu for helping me with this journey.
In the entire journey I followed my body and my baby. Understood cues of what my body asked me to do and did that. Even during labor, it was my body that took me forward and the mantra to trust your body is absolutely true and everyone will be shocked to see how miraculous the results will turn out if we do that.
My husband and I have taken this journey together in all the possible ways and I never once felt left out. We attended your labor management and breastfeeding classes together and the knowledge we gained through that as first-time parents is what led us through this journey smoothly.

I would like to give a shout out to all the husband’s out there trying to break society norms and cliches and help their wives through this journey by making their involvement seem normal to the previous generation. I am really glad my husband was by my side and I hope and pray for more men to take lead and move forward as a team coz it is more fun and creates a bond Iike never before.
