People it’s high time we start to realise that “depression” is real! It’s not those little blues you get when you are upset and you can be talked out of it.

A lot of people think why would a person get depressed, she is well off, her husband is doing well, she has a grandson, then why is that person depressed. A lot more think that person has no right to be depressed when she has everything in life.

I think it’s high time we need to understand what is depression? It is not about getting depressed on something or a thing that is bothering momentarily.

It is a MEDICAL CONDITION that can arise due to hormonal imbalance , certain trauma (that you might not be even aware of like childhood traumas ) etc.

It not only loses your focus like a normal day to day activity, but can cause immense physical pain. The persistent feeling of sadness or loss of interest that characterizes major depression can lead to a range of behavioral and physical symptoms.

These may include changes in sleep, appetite, energy level, concentration, daily behavior or self-esteem. Depression can also be associated with thoughts of suicide.

It can bring your day to day task to a complete HALT. a Standstill. And mind you it is not because of something bothering. It is LIFE as a whole. Increasingly, research suggests that these factors may cause changes in brain function, including altered activity of certain neural circuits in the brain.

If you really want to help someone with depression, be empathetic towards them, the same way you would be to a person with a heart problem.. for in simple words, yes it is a brain problem and let’s see it that way World!
