#vrikshambirthstory

Hi Anu Akka, this is Aarthi and Dev from Chennai. We are your early pregnancy and labor management webinar students. Feels happy to share our birth experience with you.

My due date was on 29th Oct 2022. So, I was asked to come for a check-up on 20th Oct since there was no sign of labor even during my 39th week. During the checkup, they found that the AFI dropped below 5 and asked to get admitted on the 21st to start the induction process. Didn’t sleep properly due to the excitement to see my little one and equally the fear of labor since it was my first pregnancy. We got ready and went by 6 am to the hospital and got admitted.

My induction procedure started at 9 am in the morning but it wasn’t happening properly. To everyone’s surprise, I was already 2cm dilated and they sent me back to my room by 10 am to do exercise for the labor to progress. They checked me again by 2:30 pm but there wasn’t any progress in my dilation and it was still at 2cm. They continuously monitored the baby’s heartbeat due to lower AFI and the baby was normal every time they checked. Till the night of the 21st, my labor didn’t progress and it was at 2cm only.

On Oct morning at 3 am, they inserted a gel to get labor progressed and followed up by 8 am in the morning, I was dilated to 4cm and they took me to the labor room by 9 am. Then they started with inserting trips and other labor procedures and asked me to continue with my exercise and checked me by 11:30 am but there wasn’t any progress in labor and still at 4cm.

I kept talking to my little one saying – Seekram vandhru and Amma Ku neraya pain Vendam along with Continuing my exercise with regular breaks in between, doing the breathing exercise, sipping water when required, and emptying the bladder as you told during the session, I was able to bear the pain.

Then for the labor to progress, they broke the water and contractions started getting very intense. I couldn’t bear the pain and asked for an epidural by 12:30 pm. Once the epidural was given, I felt so relaxed and rested for some time, and again, to everyone’s surprise, I started to feel like I want to pass a motion by 1 pm.

When the nurse checked, I was fully dilated to 10 cm within half an hour and they asked me to start pushing whenever I feel the urge to push. I started pushing and I couldn’t feel any pain while pushing. It just felt like I’m passing motion. Within 15mins and my 3rd push, my little girl was out at 1:15 pm at 3.1kg and it felt so happy and blessed to have a child vaginally. What an experience it was for me and my husband! Tears rolled out of happiness when I held her on my chest for the first time. ❤️ Unexplainable. 👨‍👩‍👧

Equal importance along with labor needs to be given to this man – My husband ❤️ He was my great support during my labor process. He was there inside the labor room the entire time asking me to sip water, reminding me to continue my breathing exercise along with butterflies, and kept saying me to push holding my back whenever I felt like giving up.

From the time we got two pink lines till date, He says the same thing – You are a strong woman and you will do it, don’t doubt yourself! It gives me so much positive energy to not give up. He is my positivity.

One more person to thank is my mother, I made her and my husband sit with me during your class and asked them to pay attention. She took care of me so well from 3rd month of pregnancy till date. I feel really good even today during my postpartum with my husband and mother being around me.

And special thanks to you Akka, cause your labor management class was so informative that I used to refer to all the notes I had written whenever I used to feel like giving up. And you are one amazing and positive person who brings in so much of positive with your words via your classes. It had made my pregnancy much easier.

With lots of love and respect to you and your family, ✨

Aarathi and Dev.
