Hi Akka, please voice this out and create awareness about body shaming.

Around ten years back, when I was 24 years old, I weighed 45kg, but I was healthy and fit. My relatives told my mother that I am very lean feed her well; otherwise, I will not get a suitable groom. My mother took their advice and took me to the hospital and got medicine to gain weight ( that time, I had 0% knowledge of side effects), so I followed what my mother did. Then I started to gain weight. Along with it, I was diagnosed with PCOS, and doctors suggested reducing weight, and my mother joined me in a gym; though I was not interested in it, I had to.

At 28, I was married, and I was around 65KGS. Then within 2months of marriage, I was 78kg. Then again, people around me, including my family, started to say that I had put on so much weight and asked me to reduce weight and to do exercise, be on a diet etc., but I couldn’t lower my weight because I was a joint family and my in-law always force me to have more food. There was so much pressure around me to reduce.

After 6yrs of struggle, I have twin babies now through Ivf, post-delivery now I’m 67kgs, and the same people around me started saying you have become skinny, eat properly have that and this to put on weight.

This time I trust my body, and I will not listen to anyone. So to all the women out there, please trust your body; if you feel you are healthy and strong, then there is nothing called fat or lean and society, please STOP body shaming women always.
