Water broke at 36 weeks & an informed birth
#vrikshambirthstory
Hi Anu Akka, this is Payal from Bangalore. I attended your breastfeeding webinar on 7th July and labor management webinar on 17th and 18th July.
Thanks to the mental preparedness I got from attending your classes, I had a smooth delivery experience! I got blessed with a baby boy on 30th September 2021!
I had a normal vaginal delivery. The pain I felt during labor contractions were bearable because of the breathing techniques you taught, presence of my hubby by my side through the entire journey and a simple knowledge I gained from your class – I can stand and walk around even during active labor!
Thanks to the birth plan you explained in the class – I was able to prepare this well in advance and discuss it with my gynaec. She allowed my hubby to be present during the delivery process only because I explicitly asked for it… And I asked for it coz I knew I could from your class!!
My water broke much earlier than expected (36weeks, I was in a meeting on my last working day before beginning my maternity leave). It was an emergency situation, I was at home with my in laws and my hubby was working from office. However I was quite cool and composed and I knew I had very little time to pack my stuff, yet I didn’t forget to pack some minor things which made a major difference during the labor process – sipper bottle, lip balm, socks, charger n headset!
When I was seated in the ambulance, I got overwhelmed that everything is happening so suddenly and my hubby was yet to reach, ambulance siren was ringing and traffic was getting cleared for me! I started the breathing exercises there itself to stop myself from panicking!
Once I got admitted to the hospital, my hubby also reached and together we were logging my contractions in the app. It was quite useful to share with the doctor. Doctor helped me dilate with some gel, followed by injection during contraction. I didn’t need induced labor or epidural as my labor pain was progressing very well. Had I not known that I can actually stand and walk around even with NST, I may have to be given epidural coz I was just unable to bear the pain while lying on the bed. I insisted the nurses that I want to stand during the labor contractions and they obliged! After 5 hours of active labor, I delivered my baby in a few pushes, with the help of a nurse pressing my tummy for the last push!
I had gestational diabetes, had suffered from covid infection in my second trimester. However, by god’s grace, everything went well and my baby was born healthy and beautiful
God bless you Anu Akka! More power to you for spreading awareness that helps in being mentally prepared! Special compliments from both, my mother and mother-in-law! They both said they wish they had someone like you in their time to spread the awareness and help fight taboos!
