When you are not “extra special” anymore
#mylifelessonsbyanu
At one point in the postpartum times, hard reality will strike you; all the pampering that people around you showered during pregnancy and as a new mother has come to an end.
You are not that “extra” special anymore; now that you have done your duty as expected, things around you change, and people get back to being their old selves again.
It will take some time to realise that you are there at the point of not being treated “special” anymore! When you realise it, it will take a toll on you enough to wet your pillow with tears that night.
You cry and cry thinking about why you got pregnant? Why do you have a child? Why are you not worth it anymore?
Now that you are expected to take care of the child alone and have started to, you feel exhausted enough to magnify anything negative around.
After a whole tiring day, you put your baby to sleep at 1 am and hit the bed with such exhaustion and to add fuel to the fire, a broken heart that you don’t want the night to end.
With your baby’s first cry at dawn, you wake up; you can’t run away, for there is a baby so helplessly dependent on you. No one can breastfeed the baby, only you!
Finally, you have to accept the sad reality that the newborn is your responsibility; you can get help here and there but eventually that you have to carry this responsibility yourself and stop expecting those good old days of pampering to come back.
